Cassidy Brothers were contracted by Willerby Landscapes to manufacture Linear benches.

The bench were designed for the Here East Project. The purpose of this project is for the regeneration of the Olympic Village in Stratford London.

Type A the S1 linear bench consisted of singular bench with a graphic imprint with an exposed polished finish. The design architect wanted to reintroduce a construction type theme into the area as this region prior to the Olympics was rich with construction activity mainly supplying construction components.

The graphic imprint was chosen by the architect and replicated a circuit board and when each bench was lined together each line had to match perfect. Cassidy Brothers worked in hand with our client Willerby and the Architect in choosing the correct concrete matrix colour, aggregate type, degree of exposure and finally the polishing texture.

Type B the S3 linear bench consisted of 200m of various benches surrounding five green areas next to the canal. The green areas are adjacent to a number of shop fronts as well as offices.

The architect wanted to impose a hard construction feel to this new regenerated area which is to accommodate shops, offices along with a new collage.

Cassidy Bros designed an adjustable mould to accommodate the various changing sizes, along with a universal angle mould used for the sloping sides.
